I have read some very entertaining reviews for this toaster. Especially the one about burning the money would provide more enjoyment than using the toaster! LOL. We got out Dualit 4-slice through Airmiles, and were a little nervous after reading all those reviews. Well, if you read the instructions, it's a great toaster - NO KIDDING. Nearly all of the bad reviews would be different if they would have read the instructions. The toaster just needs to be preheated before using. In the time it takes to set up the plates, butter, and a knife, the toaster is warm and ready for use. I have never enjoyed a piece of toast better that from this toaster - PERFECTION!
Oh, one thing...it get's so hot that it actually melted the finish on our upper cabinet doors (new kitchen too, thankfully the cabinets were under warrenty), so pull it out from under the cabinets when you use it.
I hope this helps you decide through all the review! We love it, would only replace it with another one - if it ever breaks.
